Sponsored by the Waterloo Catholic District School Board, the ‘Beacons of Hope’ recognition program recognizes those students who excel in exceptional Catholic leadership. Students are selected with one from elementary and two from secondary schools. As well, selected community organizations are recognized for their community leadership. The Beacons of Hope event is hosted in each community during the spring in the form of breakfast celebrations where the student, parents, principal, parish priest, superintendent, director and trustees are invited. The latest celebration was held at St. Anthony Daniel Parish Centre with the Kitchener Knights of Columbus, Council 1504 hailed as displaying community leadership.
